In a significant move to increase MBBS seats nationwide, the National Medical Commission (NMC) has approved the establishment of 113 new undergraduate medical colleges for the 2024-25 academic year. This follows an earlier notice from the Medical Assessment and Rating Board (MARB) inviting applications for new UG medical colleges.

The NMC announced on July 6 that it has emailed its decisions directly to the concerned medical institutions. These institutions are instructed to take necessary actions within a specified timeframe.

The additional MBBS seats aim to benefit aspiring medical students and help bridge the gap in healthcare professionals nationwide.

Among the top approved medical colleges are the Delhi Institute of Medical Sciences, School of Medical Science at Sri Satya Sai University, Bharat Medical College & Hospital in Purulia, etc.
