The panel urges Ayushman Bharat to include essential OPD services and extended post-hospitalisation medicine coverage. It also recommends AI-based fraud detection and the early rollout of daycare chemotherapy centers.
A parliamentary committee has recommended expanding the Ayushman Bharat PMJAY scheme to include essential OPD services and extended post-hospitalisation medication coverage. Acknowledging the schemes current focus on inpatient care, the committee highlighted gaps in routine OPD care and limited post-discharge medicines. It proposed a phased inclusion of OPD services for chronic and common ailments and extending post-hospitalization drug coverage beyond the current 15 days to reduce beneficiaries financial burden.
The panel also urged the National Health Authority to adopt AI-driven, transparent monitoring to detect misuse early. Additionally, the committee recommended fast-tracking daycare chemotherapy centers and ensuring dedicated staff for smooth operations. It emphasized integrating NCD screening for all adults above 30 under national campaigns.
